About Media Associates
Media Associates focuses on communication skills and professional development - soft skills with hard outcomes.
Our company was founded in 1985. We are based in Christchurch and Wellington - and train and speak to conferences everywhere.
Sites we likeInteresting articles about recent research in psychology. It's psychology for those who just want the useful stuff and don't care about the stats. Harvard Business Review - blogs We've subscribed to the (printed) magazine for many years. The blogs are useful too. We like the practical ideas and the range is impressive. Well, we would like this one. It's one of ours. But here's the surprising thing: it's offering a free audio download of the fable. The story makes the 15 ways to develop your resilience memorable. If you're in business and love recessions for the challenge, or in a sports team that enjoys defeat week after week so that you can learn from the experience, just enjoy the story. The printed book is the souvenir. (You can see more about it on this Media Associates site.) Journal of Personality and Social Psychology It's a journal of the American Psychological Association and a fascinating collection of current research topics. It's more suitable for readers familiar with statistics and the jargon of psychology. This page will show you abstracts only. You'll have to sign up if you want the full articles. Intelligence Solutions is based in Wellington. We know the owner and like the company's values. They provide training in security, risk management, intelligence and business analysis. It's a site for the new novel Finding the Field. Okay, we'll confess: the author is Michael Brown, a senior Media Associates trainer. It's the latest in a series comprising novels, books about his adventures and the resource texts he's written for us. Check out the engaging on-camera introduction and the free audio version of the whole book. It's not our book, but we're proud of it anyway. It's a British site and a useful source of articles from leading researchers in positive psychology. Choose the .pdf option for the full paper. SelfGrowth.com is a guide to information about personal growth. You'll find contibutions from people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're selective, you'll find useful articles on a wide variety of topics, most of them well-written and brief. Some of the content is complementary to what we do; much of it is well outside our approach to personal development. It's a useful resource of past interviews and programmes. There's even an interview with our MD about resilience. (You may need to scroll down to item 6 on TVNZ's Breakfast programme list.) An exuberantly positive site and a source of well-written non-technical articles about self-development and relationships. Need cheering up? Try the positive videos.
